Show us Thanksgiving.
this is definitely tardy, sorry about the delay! that's the downside of working in retail during the holiday season, you never have a moment to yourself!
for thanksgiving this year, my family couldn't make it down to see me, nor could i go home to see them. boo hoo! but like last year, my good friend madison invited me over to her place, where her mom (the caterer!) made us an amazing dinner! (again!)
possibly some evidence that we ate too much, haha!
Show us your glasses.
these aren't my actual glasses (i wish!), since mine are super-old and super-embarrassing. (i've had them since i was 15!) i suppose that means it's time for some new ones?
Show us one of your favorite comfort foods.
okay, hands down it would have to be my mom's lasagna. i don't know what the hell she does to it, ( and frankly, i rather like not knowing), but it's delicious! it's the kind of unspeakable delicious that overtakes an entire staff of colleagues that just-so-happened to catch a glimpse of what was in your lunch bag... i swear, that woman would have made bank making all that lasagna for all my old co workers! speaking of, i haven't had it in years, possibly why i'm making her make it for me when i come up to visit for Halloween! (joy!)
and, if there's no Mom's famous lasagna lying around my cold and dreary San Francisco apartment, it would just have to be the next best thing... CHEESECAKE! i'm going to have to be thankful that i don't get upset too often, or else i fear i'd be a kabillion pounds!
Show us your favorite celebrity haircut.
I'm absolutely mad about 1920's hair, and fashion. One of my reigning top faves is still the sultry and mysterious Silent Film star and sex symbol Louise Brooks.
It's funny to look back and see just how different "beauty" has been interpreted and portrayed throughout the decades. In the 20's, androgyny was a coveted statement for women, what with the super-short hair, barely-there breasts and baggy clothing. It was early into a new century, and women were starting to come out of their shells, chopping their hair off as a point of rebellion, painting their faces, rolling socks down and showing some leg. (yikes!) If it wasn't for the "Black Tuesday" of '29, tapeworm weight-loss fads and the nearing Great Depression just a few years later, i'd have LOVED to have been alive in the 20's!
