once again, it's been about that two-month mark where i get SO insanely busy, forget to post, then feel guilty! how has everyone been? can you believe it's literally about a week until summer starts? WHERE DID THE TIME GO?!
sooo much has gone on in the past (100 years?!) since i've posted. Tahoe trip, Zombie Bay-To-Breakers craziness, parties with the new roomies, (oh, man!), WORK, making new friends randomly (and keeping them!) at bars, and so much more...
i guess first up is our trip to Tahoe! my roommate Lei and her husband and i planned this trip to Tahoe about a few months ago in April. just a couple days to get away, see some snow and relax in the mountains. little did we know the snow was TOTALLY melted, the season had ended and was just about dying in the 85+ degree weather?! you mean we upgraded to the 4wd Highlander for THIS?! oh man, but nonetheless it was an awesome trip. ate far too much, drank too much, and got to basically have an entire hotel complex to ourselves! (not to mention the streets were EMPTY.) the cool part? we saw Atmosphere in concert! SO exciting. apparently it was a surprise stop in their tour, and was only about $25. deal in my book.
oh wait, i guess there was a little snow. =D

how has your summer been? any fun plans?
Happy weekend! anyone out there still on spring break? any of you get to even HAVE a spring break?! not I, not I. but, today was a bit of a fun surprise in the mundane routine. myself and my co-worker and new-found roommate decided to go on a hair adventure after work! well, during, rather. since we had to leave early due do an emergency. =]
a HAIR emergency! she's a hair-dresser, i'm a color-starved orphan of anything fun (thanks Corporate!) so we needed something to cheer ourselves up. so, naturally, we buy hair. and lots of it. then fun hair color, LOTS of it. stayed up most of the day and night, ordered take out and had a frenzy. it's finally done, and i'm SOOO excited! i finally got my turquoise extensions i've been moaning and groaning about. AAAHH! it's so fabulous, i love it! i feel like a carousal horse gone bad. =D pictures tomorrow! (or, now?)

it was tiring, but extremely fun! kind of like today. we went up to the Fillmore to get our hair stuffs for the makeover frenzy. a bit of a trek, but totally worth it. (especially the prices we got the stuff for, hot damn!) plus, week wrap-up, in pictures of course. =]
possibly more later, stolen wifi is quite irritatingly slow. =/

holy. shit. it's been what, two MONTHS since i've been on this thing, raping your brains out with updates? how has everyone been? well, unfortunately i haven't had internet, (or cable for that matter) for the past month or so. KILL ME! well, technically i've had the net from my iPhone, which is better than nothing. but NOT the same! the tiny-as-fuck touch pad keys are ridiculous sometimes! especially when trying to chat, or blogging. basically anything that takes longer than 10 minutes to type out is not even worth it. right now i'm stealing wifi, so sue me.
i suppose my news quite possibly might be the same as it always is: too busy working, and moving, not enough time to get on here. but i have to say my new living arrangement is MUCH more livable! and by livable i mean AWESOME. my new roommates are so laid-back, and hilarious. not to mention NOT INSANE! well, just insane enough to my liking. =] plus, i get my own room. (JOY!!) i'm just sooo excited to be done with all that damn moving. about 1, 487 trips in a shopping cart, (yeah, get that.) including a giant solid oak formal dining table, WITH chairs. and a mattress with a box-spring, and a broken back and foot later. AWESOME! but, i can say i'm done.

don't answer that, let me rephrase: i've been OBSESSED with this orange lipstick i found in the bottom of one of my makeup cases. it's old, and cheap, but DAMN it's orange, and i'm looovin' it!
does anyone remember my plans for the Alice tea mad tea party for my birthday? well, that didn't all happen according to plan. for now, it's put on the back burner until my room is in somewhat of a withstandable order, and i have some more scrilla in the bank account. =/ but, i DID go out that night after work! a few of my good friends took me out to the bar my friend was tending that night, and got the hook up with drinks and food! granted, i was hands-down the MOST over-dressed one there, (what, a vintage feather pill-box hat and teal sequin dress is slightly inappropriate for a sports bar?) but hey! it was my birthday, and by God everyone was going to know about it!
we had a lot of fun. =D who cares if all the guys' eyes were glued to the two enormous flat-screen tv's, loaded with endless loops of football clips, right? well...
damn, i'm trying to remember the past few weeks... haha.
OH last week my friend Jamie (pictured on the left above) had my new roomie Lei and I star in one of her photography projects for art school, and i have to say, it was AWESOME!! it was a modern-day, rockabilly-retro style Frankenstein, if you will. and the whole thing of it was that she had 25 slides to portray a story, that she wrote and put together herself. i suppose it had to have it's own theme and style and whatnot, and her whole idea was soo fun and cool. i won't go into too much detail, cause once she gets me a copy i'll show you! her teacher's loved it, apparently. =D
the story was about Jane, a lonely, science- obsessed outcast (Lei), who was tired of doing everything alone. so she decides to make a friend, Bettie Proctor (me!) well, too bad i've been dead for 60 years! but that didn't stop her, so off to the cemetery with a shovel she went.
need i say more? =] maybe i can squeeze out a behind-the-scenes shot... or two. but later! it's on my friend's digi cam that i don't have access to at the moment. darn.

Happy monday! how was everybody's weekend? mine lasted about a century! =/ the past two weeks have been out-of-control. i don't remember if i've mentioned this or not, but my (only) associate of almost 2 years has managed to get herself fired by HR at work. AWESOME! so wait, clear this up for me... coming to work drunk, not coming to work at all, not coming in to work AND not calling out sick are all grounds for termination? no shit? DO TELL!
because of all this mess, i was working 7-day weeks, which is not-so-awesome. semi-good news is that i've been interviewing candidates for the new position, which is both a relief and a hassle. a pain-staking process that's left me irritated, and slightly apprehensive.
- the girl i wanted (who is AWESOME and upbeat! i've had the privilege of working with her already and knows she has great work ethic. PLUS she's trained in the line already! wtf?!); interview was sabotaged unprofessionally by my sales executive.
- the girl that i was somewhat okay with, but not thrilled about (she barely TALKS! who wants a super-shy makeup artist?!); got the job.
oh well, she's got adorable style and seems coachable. hopefully we can make a fabulous beauty artist out of her. =] plus i won't have to work every damn day hopefully soon, WOO HOO!
exactly 2 WEEKS until my birthday! i'm still trying to get all the bits and pieces together to plan for the shindigs, since we'll have to have more than one. i have to work on my actual birthday (lame!), and everyone else works/has class all week also. plus i work weekends! it's all a mess, but somehow it'll work out. and hopefully i can find a nice park that doesn't have anything happening so i can have my tea party!
i also got my birthday dress! (well, ANOTHER birthday dress!) this one is for if we go out the actual night of my birthday (St. Pattie's day, what uuup?!).

on kind of a random note: i was watching an episode of Bones, and this particular one was about child beauty pageants and them trying to solve a murder involving it. the whole thing made me so sad, and curious about the issue. so i'm searching and find this site. absolutely disgusting. the exploitation of children and their natural beauty is an absolute monstrosity. i don't understand how these people aren't ashamed of themselves. (sad, but moving on!)

and i've decided, i'm having an Alice in Wonderland mad tea party for my birthday! it shall be held in a pretty park, and there will be mismatched tea sets, flamingo croquet, cookies that make you larger or smaller, and everyone will be in COSTUME! i've decided to be the white rabbit. =] now, we only need someone to be Alice!

Life's been a madhouse, and today's Mardi Gras, right? okay, good. so then that makes my pink kitty tiara mask somewhat of a legitimate thing to wear, correct? =D no picture of that right now, i've got a hydrating mask and spot treatment going on... not too terribly glamorous! how has everybody's week been?! lots going on, right?! last weekend being Valentine's, Friday the 13th, President's day, and now Mardi Gras!
I actually went out on Friday the 13th this year, for once. (and on a work night?! oh dear.) we had a BLAST! there was a bunch of us this time, and we went to The Cellar here in SF for a badass 80's night, where on Fridays they play only 80's music... SCORE! i think it was even more awesome awkward that my friend Lei and i were the ONLY one's in spandex and day-glow makeup. well, there was this one girl in a damn jumpsuit and neon pink fanny pack. AWESOME!! too bad i didn't get a picture! or the dude with the ridiculously ill-made mullet wig. (hahahha)
the bad news? i lost my BRAND NEW IPHONE THAT NIGHT!! and who says Friday the 13th is unlucky? well, a lot of people. but i couldn't help but get technical about it, and since it was 2am i HAD to blame it on Valentine's day. either way, i don't have my damn phone anymore! i'm working on getting a new one, since the dude at AT&T told me that applecare insurance covers lost or stolen phones, (which to my dismay it DOESN'T!!) since the guy told me it did, they're trying to get me a new one. the jerks! hopefully it'll work out.

oh yes, and a little over 2 weeks until my birthday. wow, i still can't get it through my head that it's already been an entire year. it's a good thing i already snagged my birthday gown at a nearby vintage shop, randomly one day on the way to the post office. it's a glorious 1970's white and gold sequined and bejeweled piece, with a slit almost up to the ass. never been worn, it's such a score! pictures later. =D still deciding on birthday plans in the city! any ideas?
oh yes, and you all of course remember this story, don't you? it's only one my FAVORITE stories as a kid - (among soo many others) - turned SHOE! my friend just showed me a photo today of his new shoes he bought recently with the character's face on it. how cool?! i'm still trying to figure out where he got them!

So the day has finally come... time to reveal the results of the "diabolical hair frenzy"! it's still not 100% complete (turquoise extensions to come next week!), but we got the majority done yesterday. i'm SO excited about the end result! it came out much more hot pink (and racy) than i expected, which is fabulous.

FUN!! as silly as it may sound, but the new hair is actually helping me (mentally) prepare for the V-Day Invasion this saturday. (oh lord...) any of you have plans?! i was bad, and bought myself a box of See's candy today after work (because who else will?! =[ ). some of them were even pink! (they're kinda gross, though. they have coconut in em, blegh. i guess i should have read the label before letting all the cute, pink truffles get to my head?)
also, a random tid bit: my model friend Alex from high school in a Benefit web tutorial... COOOOOL!!! i came into work the other day, too and found this in my work binder. how absolutely mind-blowingly awesome would it be to come into work, and find your friend's face amongst paperwork? PRETTY damn awesome.

here she is, Miss Neglecty Neglectington, once again apologizing for being absent for about a month it seems! so much happening, so little time to absorb it all. seven days exactly until Valentine's day, can you believe it?! does everybody have a date (or plans, at least)? =]
i most certainly do, and it's WORK! come on, it's probably just about the biggest excuse for girls to come in and get their makeup done! well, aside from prom, weddings, formals, etc... either way, i'll be doing *something* this year, at least. it's definitely better than staying home alone, like i'm sure i've done in the past. the past month has been craazy, especially just the past two weeks. i'm finding it more and more difficult to differentiate days from other days, and more days... it's all starting to blur together. going to work, coming home, sleeping, going to work, coming home, and so on is just getting OLD! that's why i've decided to start doing things that stand out in my mind, so i can feel like i'm actually doing something in life, aside from WORKING! some co-workers and i have plans mid-month to head out to a super swanky club, the Supper Club. adorable trannies, modern and clean decor, fun colorful lights, crazy-awesome food... who wouldn't want to go?! it's actually relatively new to San Francisco, that i know of. as far as i know it opened up in 2006? i was at the 2006 Macy's Passport fashion show in September of that year, and they were there, in their BEST drag, and fabulous samples of their salmon, promoting it like nobody's business! i've been dying to go ever since, so i can't wait to finally go in a couple weeks!
earlier in the week, my new co-worker friend Lei and i decided to go on an after-work lingerie shopping extravaganza! she was feeling the pressure of her boyfriend coming all the way down from Hawaii to see her for V-Day (aah!!), so off we went to the bourgeois-iest of lingerie boutiques in SF that we could think of... Agent Provocateur! everything's gorgeous, silky, lacy, and scrumptious feeling. too bad it's all about $200+ for a pair of their racy panties! it was still fun to get to rifle through the frillies, though. =D
i was kinda bummed too, since the day we went, my friend that works there wasn't working at the time! but the girls there were still nice.
so on we went to Betsey Johnson. oh lord, don't even get me started. i KNEW, just knew it would be torture going in there, since we'd try stuff on, and then regret purchasing one of her amazingly adorable pieces for probably $395, or up! but alas, since we're obviously masochists, we went in anyway, and had a blast trying her foofy, poofy and cupcake-inspired dresses for a while! what sucks? i found the PERFECT dress! especially since my birthday's coming up next month mid-March, i wanted to snag it SO BAD! i call it Rocky and Bullwinkle's Natasha-meets-Betty Page. DAMMIT!
unfortunately they caught us trying to snap a super-quick photo, and was denied immediately, darn. but it was this exact dress i tried on, only in black. it looked awesome! *sigh*. maybe for my birthday, i'll be more willing to fork out the dough for it! we ended up closing down the place! so on we went...
... to more lingerie! this time, she found her perfect set for Valentine's day at Victoria's Secret. it was this really cute little apron-corset-bra... thing in baby pink and black lace. it was SO awesome! meanwhile, i tried on enough ruffley, frilly pink things to make a fairy princess cry, but didn't end up getting anything. poo =/ it was still fun though!
and most importantly, SUNDAES! i know, i know, it's not the best choice of food a week before Valentine's, but who cares! it had Oreo's in it, dagnabbit!
also, this is from today... i'm seeing a dessert trend here, do you?
also, before i pass out hard, remember my diabolical hair plans? well, they've been buffed, polished, and set in stone! the only problem is my stylist got super sick and canceled this week. booooo. so hopefully by this Wednesday i can finally show you what i've been waiting for! get excited, seriously. =D

okay, work has been FABULOUS, (seriously, i get to throw a beauty makeover theme-party of my choice on a whim at work every weekend!) but i honestly didn't think it would consume as much time as it has, i'm far behind on the times! i'm going to try to get on here more often and update you guys, and hopefully with some new material/tips/outfits/weirdness and more! despite working non-stop, i've been attempting maintaining somewhat of a social life. i've made a really cool friend at work, she just moved here a couple months ago from Hawaii - who happened to graduate Cosmetology school around the same time i did, cool! she invited me over to her house one day after work, so i could play with her two new kittens and have some drinks! (i'm animal deprived, don't hate!) we have a lot in common, plus she's just really down to earth and friendly. it's nice to have someone to eat lunch with, especially when you're new to a company. plus, we live really close together, so we just walk home together! definitely cooler than walking home alone every single day of your life!
another good news update: my best friend from high school, (that i hadn't SEEN since high school!) calls me up last Saturday to tell me she's in the city for the night. HOT DAMN! it was so good to see her, the only thing was i had been up since 6am that day, and didn't get home from work til 7pm. (i was ready for bed at that point!) we ended up not going out til 10, and was so exhausted to the point of nausea. was clubbing a good a idea? probably not, but i went anyway, and wound up having a lot of fun! we went to the grand opening of the Infusion Lounge here in SF, it was really nice and swanky! (despite the line out the door to the UNISEX bathroom, that had bouncers!)
That's about all i can muster up for now, my brain isn't fully functioning from the event we did this weekend. (either that, or it was the severe black eye makeup we had on three days straight!) we were "Bad Gals" to promote Benefit's Bad Gal Lash mascara, since it won "World's best mascara" in Elle magazine, woo hoo! we slapped on our toughest eyes and studded belts, and did our famous "three-minute smokey eye" on EVERYBODY that would let us! although tiring, it was a lot of fun. next weekend: Beauty Queen For a Day! let's see how big we can make my hair, shall we?
